This Father’s Day: Massage for Your “Manly Man”
Sports or Deep Tissue Massage Gift Certificates for the Man in Your Life
With Father’s Day just around the corner, women are trying to figure out what to give that special someone in their life. One Father’s Day gift idea that doesn’t seem to occur to many people is a gift certificate for a massage. How about getting him a massage gift certificate this Father’s Day? …And I don’t mean for those metrosexual guys you know. They’re probably already booking massage sessions regularly.
No, I mean for that tough, “manly man”, who always scoffs when you come back from your massage session, feeling so relaxed and rejuvenated. I mean the guy who says that he doesn’t need massage because he’s fine, he doesn’t like lavender-scented candles or perfumed oils, or whatever…
Here are some tips for turning your hunk into a massage junkie:
- Don’t call it “a massage.” Call it “a bodywork session.”
- Don’t give him a gift certificate from a spa. Get it from an independent therapist. (C’mon, he’s never going to live it down if his buddies hear that he went to a spa…)
- Find the right therapist. (This kind of guy wants to at least think that he prefers sports massage or deep tissue massage over plain, old Swedish massage with lavender oil. Find a therapist who specializes in one of these types of bodywork. If they work out of a gym or at least a place that’s not too “fru-fru”, that’s even better. Also, there are even some kinds of bodywork that are performed with clothes, like Thai massage or Barefoot Massage, which many “tough guy” types prefer.)
- See if you can get a certificate that’s not too “girly” or pretty. Maybe the therapist can print something out that’s kind of plain.
- If the therapist accepts tips (most do), pay it when you purchase the certificate. This way, the therapist is in a good mood, and your guy doesn’t need to worry about any additional payment. His one and only mission is to relax and experience a massage that you gave him.
So ask around, jump on Google, whatever. Find the right therapist and he’ll thank you and finally understand why you love massage so much.
